Fair Play: a new erotic thriller film written and directed by Chloe Domont. It stars Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich as couple Emily and Luke who are newly engaged. When a coveted promotion at a cutthroat financial firm arises, supportive exchanges between the lovers begin to sour into something more sinister. As the power dynamics irrevocably shift in their relationship, Luke and Emily must face the true price of success and the unnerving limits of ambition. The film was released in select theatres on September 29 and on Netflix on October 13.
Killers of the Flower Moon: another new trailer was released for this new epic Western crime drama film directed and co-produced by Martin Scorsese, who co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Roth, based on the 2017 book of the same name by David Grann. The film centers on a series of Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation during the 1920s, committed after oil was discovered on tribal land. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio alongside Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone. It marks the sixth feature film collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio and the tenth between Scorsese and De Niro. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and was released in select theaters on October 6 before a wide release on October 20.
Upload season 3: the third season of the science fiction comedy-drama series created by Greg Daniels. Robbie Amell is back as Nathan Brown, who was uploaded to the digital afterlife Lakeview. Also back are Andy Allo, Allegra Edwards, Zainab Johnson, Kevin Bigley, and Josh Banday. Season 3 picks up where Season 2 ended, with Nathan and Nora now officially in a romantic relationship after he was downloaded back in the real world. They will continue to try and stop everything happening with Freeyond before it causes irreparable damage to millions. As if that weren’t enough, Nathan’s download could take his life at any moment. Meanwhile, a backup Nathan resides in Lakeview, an opportunity Ingrid seizes, hoping for a second chance at their relationship. The third season of the series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on October 20 with the two first episodes and the rest of the episodes releasing weekly.
Big Mouth season 7: this animated coming-of-age sitcom created by Andrew Goldberg, Nick Kroll, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett is back with a seventh season. We follow Nick, Andrew and all their friends once again, who are in their final year of middle school. All the main voice actors are back with a list of other big names joining this seventh season including Megan Thee Stallion, Lupita Nyong’o, Padma Lakshmi, Zazie Beetz, Billy Porter, Stephanie Beatriz, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. It is the most outrageous season yet. After that we’re getting an eight and final season in which we will have to say goodbye to our beloved characters. But for now we can already enjoy this seventh season of the show which was released on Netflix on October 20.
Lessons in Chemistry: a new drama miniseries developed by Lee Eisenberg based on the novel of the same name by Bonnie Garmus. It stars Brie Larson in the lead role as Elizabeth Zott, a female scientist in the 1960s who, after being fired from her own lab, uses her new job hosting a TV cooking show to educate housewives on scientific topics. Also starring are Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, Stephanie Koenig, Patrick Walker, Thomas Mann, Kevin Sussman, Beau Bridges, Ashley Monique Clark and Derek Cecil. The miniseries premiered on Apple TV+ on October 13 with the first two episodes.
Goosebumps: a new horror comedy series developed by Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller based on the book series of the same name by R. L. Stine. Before the series there were the films Goosebumps (2015) and Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018), that were also based on the books. And now we have this new series as well. Rob Letterman, the first film’s director, was hired by 2022 to write the series alongside Stoller. Letterman also directed the pilot episode. Starring in the series are Justin Long, Ana Yi Puig, Miles McKenna, Will Price, Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Rachael Harris and Rob Huebel. It follows five teenagers who, after accidentally releasing supernatural forces, must find a way to work together and recapture them, while discovering their parents’ secrets from their teenage years. Goosebumps was released on Disney+ and Hulu on October 13.
