This week Netflix celebrated their Geeked Week for the third time. During the whole week they gave us exclusive clips, teasers and other news about new films and series that are coming on the streaming service.
#StrangerThingsDay
It started on Monday November 6 with Stranger Things Day. The whole day they celebrated the amazing show that is coming to an end soon with its fifth season. We got a look back at the series with the very first episode that was shown on repeat on TikTok, we got some behind the scenes-pictures and some other Stranger Things-stuff. We also got the first sentences of the first scene for the first episode of season 5. I can’t wait to get more of this last season of the show.
A lot of new teasers
On Tuesday and Wednesday they teased us for their live streams that happened on the next few days. During those live streams we got some fun teasers for new films and series. Here are some interesting teasers we got:
- We got a first poster and teaser for a new series named The Brothers Sun starring Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien and Sam Song Li. This dark action comedy series, created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, is releasing on Netflix on January 4, 2024.
- We got a first poster and teaser for the upcoming live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This adventure fantasy series is a live-action adaptation of the animated television series of the same name. It stars an ensemble cast including Gordon Cormier, Dallas Liu, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Daniel Dae Kim. The series is releasing on Netflix on February 22, 2024.
- We got a first poster and teaser for Code 8 Part 2, the sequel to Code 8 starring Robbie and Stephen Amell who are reprising their roles from the first film. Directed by Jeff Chan, the film is coming to Netflix in 2024.
- We got a new poster and a look at the science-fiction series 3 Body Problem. It’s created by David Benioff, D. B. Weiss and Alexander Woo and based on the novel of the same name by Liu Cixin. The series is releasing on Netflix on March 21, 2024.
- We got a new look at Obliterated, a new action dramedy series created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald. The series stars Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig and is releasing on Netflix on November 30.
- We got a new sneak peek at Leave the World Behind, a new psychological thriller film written, directed and produced by Sam Esmail. It is based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Rumaan Alam and stars Julia Roberts (who also produced the film), Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la, and Kevin Bacon. The film is releasing on Netflix December 8.
- It was announced that a new animated film from The Witcher is coming for which we got a first teaser. The film named The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep stars Doug Cockle as The Witcher and Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey, who play in the live-action series, will also reprise their roles as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier. The film is set between Episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher Season 1 and is releasing on Netflix in late 2024.
- We got a first teaser for the live-action version of Yu Yu Hakusho. The series is based on the very popular manga series of the same name and is directed by Shô Tsukikawa. It stars Takumi Kitamura as the unruly Yusuke Urameshi, along with Jun Shison, Kanata Hongô, and Shûhei Uesugi. The series is releasing on Netflix on December 14.
- We got a first teaser for the newest fantasy film Damsel starring Millie Bobby Brown in the lead role as princess Elodie. It’s directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by Dan Mazeau. The film also stars Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. The film is coming to Netflix soon.
- We got a first teaser for the new series Dead Boy Detectives that is coming which is part of The Sandman-universe. This fantasy drama series developed by Steve Yockey is based on the DC Comics characters of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner. It stars Jayden Revri and George Rexstrew as Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, two good friends who decided not to enter the afterlife and stay on Earth and investigate crimes that involve supernatural stuff. The series is coming to Netflix soon.
- They announced that a new Terminator anime series is coming. It tells the same story, kinda, but this time with brand new characters. The series is coming to Netflix soon.
- We got a final trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off which is releasing on Netflix November 17, which is tomorrow. The animated series is based on the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels written and drawn by Bryan Lee O’Malley, who also developed the series with BenDavid Grabinski. The entire main cast from the 2010 film adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, are reprising their roles which includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, and Mae Whitman. Tomorrow you can start to enjoy the series, and here is a little teaser for the Six To See of next week. This series will be one of them.
Geeked Week ended on Sunday with a live stream about the newest Zack Snyder-film Rebel Moon. He talked all about it. This epic space opera film directed by Zack Snyder from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten, is based on a story Snyder also created.The film features an ensemble cast that includes Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Jena Malone, Fra Fee, Ed Skrein, and Anthony Hopkins. The film is divided in two parts with the first part called A Child of Fire and the second part called The Scargiver. We got a new trailer for the first part of the film that is releasing on Netflix December 22. It will also have a limited theatrical release in the United States on December 15, a week before it releases on Netflix. The sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, is set to be released on April 19, 2024. Watch the trailer here below.
