New trailers week 41 (Dec 1-8)

  • Furiosa: the upcoming film in the Mad Max Saga following a young Furiosa. This post-apocalyptic action adventure film is co-produced and directed by George Miller, who co-wrote it with Nico Lathouris. It serves as both a spin-off and a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), as well as the fifth film in the Mad Max franchise. It stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character Imperator Furiosa, with Chris Hemsworth, Alyla Browne, and Tom Burke also starring. As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into the hands of a Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. While two Tyrants fight for dominance over the Citadel, Furiosa survives many trials as she plots a way back home through the Wasteland. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is releasing in theatres on May 24.
  • Fallout: a new post-apocalyptic drama series developed by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan and based on the role-playing video game franchise. It stars Walton Goggins, Ella Purnell, Kyle MacLachlan, Aaron Moten, Mike Doyle, and Moisés Arias. The show depicts the aftermath of a nuclear war in an alternate history of Los Angeles, California in a 1950s-esque retrofuturistic Earth. The series is premiering on Amazon Prime Video on April 12, 2024.
  • The House of the Dragon season 2: the second season of the fantasy drama series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal. A prequel to Game of Thrones and based on parts of Martin’s 2018 book Fire & Blood, the series begins about 100 years after the Seven Kingdoms are united by the Targaryen Conquest, nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the beginning of the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons. In this second season we will see even more about how the war began. The second season of the series is set to premiere on HBO in mid-2024.
  • The Boys season 4: the fourth season of the satirical superhero series developed by Eric Kripke and based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their powers. The series features an ensemble cast that includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Nathan Mitchell. This new season is coming to Prime Video in 2024.
  • Halo season 2: the second season of the military science fiction series developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane and based on the video game franchise of the same name. The series follows a 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant, a theocratic-military alliance of several advanced alien races determined to eradicate the human race. Pablo Schreiber and Jen Taylor star as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and Cortana, with the latter reprising her role from the video game series. Also starring are Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, Danny Sapani, Bokeem Woodbine, and Natascha McElhone. This second season of the series is premiering on Paramount+ on February 8, 2024.
  • Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire: the next monster film in the MonsterVerse. Directed by Adam Wingard, it is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and the seventh installment and fifth film in the MonsterVerse. It is also the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise, the 13th film in the King Kong franchise, and the fifth Godzilla film to be completely produced by an American film studio. The film stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. Hall, Henry and Hottle reprise their roles from the previous film. In the film, Godzilla and Kong must fight together once more when an ancient enemy of Kong from an age long past emerges to challenge for supremacy in both the Hollow Earth and on the surface. The film is releasing in theatres on April 12, 2024.
  • Bob Marley: One Love: the upcoming biographical drama film directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, and written by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter. It is based on the life of reggae singer and songwriter Bob Marley, from his rise to fame up until his death in 1981. The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley, alongside Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley, Jesse Cilio as Norval Marley, and James Norton as Chris Blackwell. The film is releasing in theatres on February 14, 2024.
  • I.S.S.: a new science fiction thriller film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and written by Nick Shafir. The film stars Ariana DeBose, Chris Messina, Pilou Asbæk, John Gallagher Jr., Costa Ronin and Maria Mashkova. It centers on a group of astronauts living aboard the International Space Station whose mission is thrown in jeopardy by an ominous message from Earth. Tensions flare in the near future aboard the International Space Station as a worldwide conflict breaks out on Earth. Reeling from this, the astronauts receive orders from the ground: take control of the station by any means necessary. I.S.S. had its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival earlier this year and is releasing in theatres on January 19, 2024.
  • Masters of the Air: an upcoming war drama miniseries created by John Shiban and John Orloff. It is based on the 2007 book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought The Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller and follows the actions of the 100th Bombardment Group of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. The series serves as a companion to Band of Brothers (2001) and The Pacific (2010). It stars an ensemble cast including Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Raff Law, Barry Keoghan, Ncuti Gatwa, and Kai Alexander. Masters of the Air is premiering on Apple TV+ on January 26, 2024.
  • Good Grief: an upcoming comedy-drama film written and directed by Dan Levy who also stars in it alongside Ruth Negga, Himesh Patel, Luke Evans, Celia Imrie, Arnaud Valois, David Bradley, and Jamael Westman. It follows a man, struggling to cope with the deaths of his husband and mother, who travels with his two best friends to Paris for a weekend getaway. The film is releasing in limited theaters on December 29, followed by a streaming release on Netflix on January 5, 2024.
  • Race for Glory: an upcoming Italian and British motor racing film directed by Stefano Mordini. Based on true events, the film depicts the rivalry between the teams driving Audi Quattro and Lancia 037 rally cars at the 1983 World Rally Championship. Daniel Brühl and Riccardo Scamarcio star in the lead roles as Roland Gumpert and Cesare Fiorio. The film, titled Race for Glory: Audi vs. Lancia in full, is releasing in theatres on January 5, 2024.
  • Self Reliance: a new comedy thriller film written and directed by Jake Johnson in his feature length directorial debut. He also stars in the film alongside Anna Kendrick and Andy Samberg. Set in Los Angeles, we follow a disillusioned man who receives an invitation to win $1 million by taking part in a reality television game on the dark web. For 30 days, he must outwit hunters attempting to kill him. He realizes there’s a loophole to the game – the hunters can only attack him when he’s alone – so he attempts to convince friends, family and total strangers that the game is real, and that they must stay with him 24/7. The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year and is releasing on Hulu in the US on January 12, 2024.
  • The Underdoggs: an upcoming American sports comedy film directed by Charles Stone III and written by Danny Segal and Isaac Schamis. The film stars Snoop Dogg, Tika Sumpter, Andrew Schulz, Mike Epps, and George Lopez. It follows former NFL player Jaycen Jennings who agrees to coach a youth football team in order to avoid going to prison, as he tries to relaunch his career. The Underdoggs is releasing on Prime Video on January 26, 2024.
  • The Brothers Sun: an upcoming dark action comedy series created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu. It stars Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien and Sam Song Li as the family Sun. We follow the Brothers Sun, Bruce and Charles whose lives will change and will be turned upside down. The series is releasing on Netflix on January 4, 2024.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Smith: a new spy comedy series created by Francesca Sloane and Donald Glover, based on the 2005 film of the same name. It stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in the lead roles as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, two spies who work for a  mysterious agency. They enter into a new phase of their marriage after agreeing to work as spies for this mysterious agency. The series is releasing on Prime Video on February 2, 2024.
