Filmfestival Oostende Day 4 (January 29)

After an amazing first weekend of Filmfestival Oostende, it was time for even more stars to come to Ostend. On day 4 of the festival we had a lot of films and series that premiered. Flo Windey, Pepijn Vandelanotte, Malique Fye, Jaap van Veen, Xavier Rombaut and Maartie Ruts came to present their new show Only Friends. Delphine Girard, Veerle Baetens, Jacques-Henri Bronckart, Lukas Dhont, Michiel Dhont, Selma Alaoui and Guillaume Duhesme were on the red carpet to present their new film Quitter la nuit. Agnieszka Holland, Joely Mbundu, Joecy Mbundu, Jalal Altawil and Frédéric Vercheval were also there to present their film Green Border. Also on the red carpet were director Jasper Christiaens and cast of Mommy Forever, director Amat Escalante for Perdidos en la noche and director Julien Carpentier for La vie de ma mère.

I went to see two films myself: the amazing The Zone of the Interest, which is nominated for several Oscars, and The End We Start From starring Jodie Comer and Benedict Cumberbatch. The Zone of Interest was really beautiful. It’s one of the best European films of 2023 and is a film everyone should see. It’s very different and special with some silent moments and a black screen, but it also tells a story that makes you think about life and about our past. The End We Start From is also a good film that also makes you think about life and about the future. So those two films were perfect to see on the same night.
