Filmfestival Oostende Day 5 (January 30)

We’re halfway through the Filmfestival of Ostend. On Day 5 of Filmfestival Oostende the new series Juliet premiered with the cast and crew of the show walking on the red carpet, which includes Charlotte De Bruyne, Nabil Mallat, Amber Naert, Charlotte Vandermeersch, Mil Sinaeve, Nicki von Tempelhof, Tim Rostock, Bernd von Fehrn, Anke Blondé, Nathalie Van Schelvergem, Tyché Beyens, Hilde Vandermeeren and Roel Mondelaers. I saw the first episodes they showed of Juliet.

There were also other films and series premiering with the cast and crew present on the red carpet.  Louisiana Mees-Fongang, Helen, Mesbah and Roselien were in Ostend to present How Do You Spell Home. Jasper Declercq, Wouter Medaer, Jonas Wellens, Eline Rousseau, Tom Willems, Lyn Blynen, Eli Sundermann, Martijn Ravesloot, Mathieu Van Den Driessche, Gene Bervoets, Salvatore Volpe, Thomas Van Geel, Axelle Govaerts and Maxim Defossez for Bad Bad Belgium. Guido van Driel and Juda Goslinga for Toen we van de Duitsers verloren, and Berivan Binevsa, Isabel de la Serna, Isabelle de Hertogh, Farida Ouchani, Flonja Khodeli, Hevin Tekin, Laetitia Eïdo, Roda Fawaz, Kris Cuppens, Zirek Ahmet, Denis Mpunga and Barbara Sarafian for La vièrge à l’enfant.

Earlier that day I also went to see another great film: The Queen of my Dreams, a Canadian comedy-drama film written and directed by Fawzia Mirza with Mirza making her full-length directorial debut with this film. It stars Amrit Kaur as Azra, a Pakistani Canadian woman who has had a strained relationship with her parents since coming out as lesbian, who undergoes an emotional journey after the sudden unexpected death of her father Hassan (Hamza Haq). The cast also includes Nimra Bucha, Charlie Boyle, Kirstin Howell, Josh MacDonald, Ali Kazmi, Lindsay Watters, Kya Mosey, Emerson MacNeil, Meher Jaffri, Ayana Manji, Adnan Jaffar and Bakhtawar Mazhar. It was a beautiful story that shows you how different cultures can be.
