  • We Were the Lucky Ones: an upcoming historical drama series which is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Georgia Hunter. It follows survivors from a Polish Jewish family who are torn apart during World War II and try to reunite. Starring in the miniseries are Joey King, Logan Lerman, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Amit Rahav and Hadas Yaron. The series will premiere on 28 March on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally.
  • Deadpool & Wolverine: during the Super Bowl we got a first teaser for the third Deadpool film which is the first one that will be part of the MCU. With the teaser we also got the official title for the film, which is based on the Marvel Comics characters Deadpool and Wolverine. The film is directed by Shawn Levy from a script he wrote with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman star as Deadpool and Wolverine, alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. In the film, Deadpool will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Wolverine. The film is releasing in theatres on July 26.
  • Wicked: We also got a first look at the upcoming musical fantasy film Wicked during the Super Bowl. Directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, it is the first of a two-part film adaptation of Holzman and Schwartz’s stage musical of the same name. The film stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Keala Settle. Set in the Land of Oz before and continuing after Dorothy Gale’s arrival from Kansas, the film revolves around Elphaba Thropp, a green-skinned woman, and explores the path that leads her to become the Wicked Witch of the West, all while forming an unlikely friendship and later rivalry with Galinda Upland, who would go on to become Glinda the Good. Wicked is releasing in theatres on November 27. The sequel, Wicked: Part Two, will be released a year later.
  • Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: the upcoming science fiction action film directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. It serves as the sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and is the fourth installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise. The film stars Owen Teague in the lead role alongside Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy. Set nearly 300 years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes, ape civilizations have emerged from the oasis to which Caesar led his fellow apes, while humans have regressed into a feral, primitive state. When the ape leader, Proximus Caesar, perverts Caesar’s teachings to enslave other clans in search for remnants of human technologies, Noa, a common chimpanzee, embarks on a harrowing journey alongside a young human named Nova to determine the future for apes and humans alike. The film is releasing in theatres on May 10.
  • Twisters: an upcoming disaster film directed by Lee Isaac Chung from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. It is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister and is centered on a pair of storm chasers who risk their lives in an attempt to test an experimental weather alert system. The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Maura Tierney, Brandon Perea, Daryl McCormack, Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka, and Nik Dodani. The film is releasing in theatres on July 19.
  • Scoop: an upcoming British biographical drama film starring Gillian Anderson, Rufus Sewell, Billie Piper, and Keeley Hawes. Directed by Philip Martin, it is a dramatic retelling of the process of securing the 2019 BBC television interview of Prince Andrew by presenter and journalist Emily Maitlis and the production team at BBC Two news and current affairs programme Newsnight. The film is an adaptation by Peter Moffat of former Newsnight editor Sam McAlister’s book Scoops: Behind The Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview. The film is releasing on Netflix on April 5.
  • Damsel: the upcoming dark fantasy film directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by Dan Mazeau. The film stars Millie Bobby Brown, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright. It follows Princess Elodie, a dutiful damsel who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to discover that the royal family recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. She is then thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, having to solely rely on her wits and will to survive. Damsel is releasing on Netflix on March 8.
  • Sasquatch Sunset: a new surreal comedy film directed by David Zellner and Nathan Zellner, and written by David. It stars Riley Keough, Jesse Eisenberg, Christophe Zajac-Denek and Nathan Zellner. They play a family of Sasquatch, a large and hairy human-like mythical creature also known as Bigfoot, that go on a journey over a period of one year. It captures the daily life of the Sasquatch with a level of detail and rigor that is simply unforgettable. Ari Aster served as an executive producer. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last month and is releasing in limited theatres on April 12 before going wide a week later.
  • Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire: the upcoming monster film directed by Adam Wingard. It is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and is the fifth film in the MonsterVerse. It is also the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise, the 13th film in the King Kong franchise, and the fifth Godzilla film to be completely produced by an American film studio. The film stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen. Hall, Henry and Hottle reprise their roles from the previous film. In the film, Godzilla and Kong must unite against an undiscovered threat that threatens the Hollow Earth and the surface. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is releasing internationally in theatres on March 27 and in the United States on March 29.
  • X-Men ’97: an upcoming animated series created by Beau DeMayo, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team X-Men. It is a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–97), continuing from where that series ends. X-Men ’97 is produced by Marvel Studios Animation, with DeMayo serving as head writer. Several cast members return from the original series, including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, and Alyson Court. It is the first X-Men project from Marvel Studios since the studio regained the film and television rights to the characters. The series is premiering on Disney+ on March 20.
  • Apples Never Fall: an upcoming mystery drama miniseries based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name. It stars Annette Bening, Sam Neill, Alison Brie, Jake Lacy and Georgia Flood. In the series we follow the Delaney family with the parents being retired tennis coaches. When the wife disappears, her 4 adult children are forced to confront their parents’ marriage and their past. The series is premiering on Peacock on March 14.
  • Knox Goes Away: a new thriller film directed by Michael Keaton and written by Gregory Poirier. It stars Keaton, James Marsden, Suzy Nakamura, Joanna Kulig, Ray McKinnon, John Hoogenakker, Lela Loren, Marcia Gay Harden, and Al Pacino. It follows John Knox, a contract killer who has a rapidly evolving form of dementia. He is offered an opportunity to redeem himself by saving the life of the adult son with whom he had been estranged. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and is releasing in theatres in the United States on March 15.
