- Shirley: a new biographical drama film written and directed by John Ridley. It depicts the 1972 presidential run of Shirley Chisholm, who was already the first Black woman to be elected to the United States Congress. It stars Regina King in the titular role, alongside Lance Reddick, Lucas Hedges, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christina Jackson, Michael Cherrie, André Holland, Terrence Howard. Shirley is releasing on Netflix on March 22.
- Civil War: an upcoming action film written and directed by Alex Garland. The film stars Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny, Jesse Plemons, and Nick Offerman. It follows a team of journalists who travel across the United States during the rapidly escalating Second American Civil War, which has engulfed the entire nation. Civil War is releasing theatres on April 12.
- Irish Wish: a new fantasy romantic comedy film directed by Janeen Damian and written by Kirsten Hansen. The film stars Lindsay Lohan in the lead role and marks her second consecutive project with Netflix and the Damians. It follows Maddie Kelly, who puts her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland, when the love of her life gets engaged to her best friend. Days before the pair are set to marry, Maddie makes a spontaneous wish for true love, only to wake up as the bride-to-be. With her dream seeming to come true, Maddie soon realizes that her real soulmate is someone else entirely. The film is releasing on Netflix on March 15.
- Challengers: an upcoming romantic sports comedy-drama film directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by Justin Kuritzkes. The film stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist. It follows a Grand Slam tennis champion who signs up to compete in a challenger event against the former lover of his wife and coach. It was delayed from its initial September 15, 2023 release date and pulled out from its slot as the opening film of the 80th Venice International Film Festival due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. The film is releasing in theatres on April 26.
- Borderlands: an upcoming American science fiction action comedy film directed by Eli Roth, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Crombie. It is based on the video game series of the same name developed by Gearbox Software. It stars an ensemble cast featuring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramírez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Borderlands is releasing in theatres on August 9.
- The Girls on the Bus: an upcoming political drama series created by Amy Chozick and Julie Plec, inspired by Chozick’s 2018 memoir Chasing Hilary. It stars Melissa Benoist (who is also producing the series), Natasha Behnam, Christina Elmore, Brandon Scott, and Carla Gugino. The series chronicles 4 female journalists who follow every move of a parade of flawed presidential candidates, while finding friendship, love, and scandal along the way. The Girls on the Bus is premiering on Max on March 14 with the first two episodes and the rest releasing weekly.
- The Gentlemen: the upcoming series created by Guy Ritchie which is a spin-off of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name. The series stars Theo James in the lead role as Eddie Halstead who has inherited a large estate from his father, but he learns that the land has become part of Mickey Pearson’s weed-growing empire. Also starring in the series are Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Peter Serafinowicz, Vinnie Jones, Chanel Cresswell, Max Beesley, and Ray Winstone. The series is releasing on Netflix on March 7.
- The Tattooist of Auschwitz: a new historical drama series directed by Tali Shalom Ezer and based on the book of the same name by Heather Morris. It stars Harvey Keitel, Melanie Lynskey, Jonah Hauer-King and Anna Próchniak. The series is inspired by the real-life story of Lale and Gita Sokolov, who met while being prisoners in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during the Holocaust. We follow Lale, who was given the job of tattooing identification numbers on fellow prisoners’ arms, telling his story to Heather Morris. The series is releasing on May 2 on Peacock in the US, on Sky Atlantic in Italy and UK and on Stan in Australia.
- Boy Kills World: a new action thriller film directed by Moritz Mohr in his feature directorial debut, from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith and Arend Remmers. Produced by Sam Raimi and Roy Lee, it stars Bill Skarsgård, Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Sharlto Copley, H. Jon Benjamin, and Famke Janssen. When his family is killed, a deaf-mute named Boy escapes to the jungle, where he is trained by a mysterious mentor to enact vengeance on the murderers. The film premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, and is releasing in theatres on April 26.
- Irena’s Vow: a new Canadian-Polish war drama film, directed by Louise Archambault and written by Dan Gordon who also wrote the Broadway play Irena’s Vow. The film stars Sophie Nélisse as Irena Gut Opdyke, a Polish nurse who helped to shelter and protect Jewish people during the Holocaust by hiding them in the cellar of the home where she was employed as a housekeeper by Nazi officer Eduard Rügemer (Dougray Scott). The cast also includes Andrzej Seweryn, Eliza Rycembel, Maciej Nawrocki, Aleksandar Milicevic, Tomasz Tyndyk and Nela Maciejewska. The film premiered in the Centrepiece program at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and is releasing in theatres on April 15.
