Oppenheimer big winner at the Oscars

Last night was the big night for the movies with the Academy Awards aka the Oscars. Jimmy Kimmel was back as the host for the fourth time with this show beginning an hour earlier than usually. The ceremony was shown live all over the world in more than 200 countries.

The big winner of the night was Oppneheimer, just like expected. The film from director Christopher Nolan won seven Oscars including Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Director for Nolan and Best Picture. The other film winning several Oscars is Poor Things which won four of them including Best Actress for Emma Stone.

The only Oscar that Barbie won was for Best Original song for What Was I Made For? By Billie Eilish, who performed the song with her brother Finneas live. With this win Billie became the youngest artist winning two Oscars. She won her first one in 2022 for No Time To Die. Ryan Gosling also stole the show performing I’m Just Ken from Barbie for the first time on stage. Wes Anderson also won his very first Oscar for his short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.

The two biggest European films of 2023 were Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest and both films won an award. Anatomy of a Fall, with Messi the dog that was in the audience, won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and The Zone of Interest won the Oscars for Best Sound and Best International Film.
