Love Lies Bleeding: the new romantic thriller film directed by Rose Glass from a screenplay she co-wrote with Weronika Tofilska. It stars Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brian, Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris. The film follows reclusive gym manager Lou who falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family. Love Lies Bleeding premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was also shown at the Berlin International Film Festival. It was released in select theatres in New York and Los Angeles March 8 before releasing in all the US and Canada on March 15. In other countries the film is releasing a little later this year in April and May.
Invincible season 2 part 2: the second part of season 2 of the adult animated series is here after the first part was released in November 2023. The first four episodes were released back then and now we’re getting the rest of the episodes of season 2 with the fifth episode that was released on Prime Video on March 14 and a new episode releasing weekly. This second part of season 2 takes place just after the first part in which we saw that Mark’s dad Nolan is still alive and started a new life on another planet. Steven Yeun is back voicing Mark just like J. K. Simmons as Nolan and Sandra Oh as Mark’s mom Debbie. The four new episodes of season 2 are releasing weekly on Prime Video with also a third season coming.
Arthur the King: a new adventure film directed by Simon Cellan Jones and written by Michael Brandt. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Juliet Rylance. Bear Grylls also appears in the film as himself. It is based on the 2016 non-fiction book Arthur – The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home by Mikael Lindnord. In the film, the captain of an adventure racing team befriends a wounded stray dog named Arthur, who accompanies the team on a grueling 435-mile (700-km) endurance race through the Dominican Republic. The film was released in theatres on March 15.
The Girls on the Bus: a new political drama series created by Amy Chozick and Julie Plec, inspired by Chozick’s 2018 memoir Chasing Hilary. It stars Melissa Benoist (who is also producing the series), Natasha Behnam, Christina Elmore, Brandon Scott, and Carla Gugino. The series chronicles 4 female journalists who follow every move of a parade of flawed presidential candidates, while finding friendship, love, and scandal along the way. The Girls on the Bus premiered on Max on March 14 with the first two episodes and the rest releasing weekly.
The American Society of Magical Negroes: a new satirical comedy film written, directed, and produced by Kobi Libii. It stars Justice Smith, David Alan Grier, An-Li Bogan, Drew Tarver, Michaela Watkins, Aisha Hinds, Tim Baltz, Rupert Friend and Nicole Byer. The film follows Aren, who is recruited into a magical society of African Americans to follow their lifelong cause: to make the lives of white people easier. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was released in theatres in the United States on March 15. In other countries it’s releasing later in April.
Irish Wish: a new fantasy romantic comedy film directed by Janeen Damian and written by Kirsten Hansen. The film stars Lindsay Lohan and marks her second consecutive project with Netflix and the Damians. The film follows Maddie Kelly, who puts her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland, when the love of her life gets engaged to her best friend. Days before the pair are set to marry, Maddie makes a spontaneous wish for true love, only to wake up as the bride-to-be. With her dream seeming to come true, Maddie soon realizes that her real soulmate is someone else entirely. The film was released on Netflix on March 15.
Bonus film: Knox Goes Away: a new thriller film directed by Michael Keaton and written by Gregory Poirier. It stars Keaton, James Marsden, Suzy Nakamura, Joanna Kulig, Ray McKinnon, John Hoogenakker, Lela Loren, Marcia Gay Harden, and Al Pacino. It follows John Knox, a contract killer who has a rapidly evolving form of dementia. He is offered an opportunity to redeem himself by saving the life of the adult son with whom he had been estranged. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and was released in theatres in the United States on March 15.
Bonus series: Apples Never Fall: a new mystery drama miniseries based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name. It stars Annette Bening, Sam Neill, Alison Brie, Jake Lacy and Georgia Flood. In the series we follow the Delaney family with the parents being retired tennis coaches. When the wife disappears, her 4 adult children are forced to confront their parents’ marriage and their past. The series premiered on Peacock on March 14.
