  • Moana 2: we got a first teaser for the sequel to Moana (2016). This musical fantasy adventure film is written and directed by David G. Derrick Jr. (in his feature directorial debut) and produced by Osnat Shurer. Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson will reprise their roles as Moana and Maui, respectively. Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’i, the composers and co-songwriters of the first film, return to score and write the songs, while Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear replace Lin-Manuel Miranda as additional songwriters. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana journeys to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she has ever faced. Moana 2 is releasing theatres on November 27.
  • A Family Affair: an upcoming romantic comedy film directed by Richard LaGravenese and written by Carrie Solomon. The film stars Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Joey King, Liza Koshy, Kathy Bates and Shirley MacLaine. It follows a young woman named Zara who works as an assistant for movie star Chris Cole — that is, until Chris falls in love with her mother. A Family Affair is releasing on Netflix on June 28.
  • Wolfs: an upcoming action comedy film written and directed by Jon Watts. It stars and is co-produced by George Clooney and Brad Pitt. It also stars Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams and Poorna Jagannathan. It follows two professional fixers who find themselves hired for the same job. To deal with upcoming dangerous and chaotic events, they are forced to work together. Wolfs is releasing in theatres on September 20.
  • Kinds of Kindness: the new absurdist dark comedy anthology film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou. The film stars Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. The film, described as a “triptych fable”, consists of three distinct but loosely connected stories. The first segment, “The Death of R.M.F,” follows a man who seeks to take charge of his own destiny after breaking away from his powerful boss. The second, “R.M.F. is Flying,” depicts a man plagued by suspicions that his spouse, who has recently returned after being reported missing, is an imposter. The final segment, “R.M.F. Eats a Sandwich,” revolves around a cultist’s task to find a specific person with the ability to resurrect the dead. Kinds of Kindness had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month, where Plemons won the Best Actor award. The film is releasing in theatres in the United States on June 21 and in Ireland and the United Kingdom on June 28.
  • The Bear season 3: the third season of the comedy-drama series created by Christopher Storer. Jeremy Allen White stars as Carmy Berzatto, an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage the chaotic kitchen at his deceased brother’s sandwich shop. The supporting cast includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott and Matty Matheson. In this season we will follow Carmy and his crew who open their new restaurant. Season 3 of The Bear is releasing on Hulu on June 27. Ahead of the third season premiere, the series was renewed for a fourth season, which was filmed back-to-back with the third season.
  • The Umbrella Academy season 4: the fourth and final season of the superhero series based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics. Created for Netflix by Steve Blackman and developed by Jeremy Slater, it revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an imminent apocalypse. Reprising their roles in this final season are Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Colm Feore and Ritu Arya. We will follow the siblings of The Umbrella Academy one more time in this season that follows up to the previous one. At the end of season 3 they all lost their power and in this fourth season we will see how they cope with that and if they get their powers back. This fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy is releasing on Netflix on August 8.
  • The Outrun: a new drama film directed by Nora Fingscheidt from a screenplay she co-wrote with Amy Liptrot, and a story the two co-wrote with Daisy Lewis, based on the 2016 memoir of the same name by Liptrot. A co-production between the United Kingdom and Germany, it stars Saoirse Ronan, who also serves as a producer, along with Paapa Essiedu, Nabil Elouahabi, Izuka Hoyle, Lauren Lyle, Saskia Reeves, and Stephen Dillane in supporting roles. It follows Rona, a young woman recently out of rehab for alcoholism, who returns home to the Orkney Islands. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and is releasing in theatres in the United Kingdom on 27 September, and later in Germany on November 7.
