- Arcane season 2: we got a new teaser for the second season of the adult animated steampunk action-adventure series created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. It was produced by the French animation studio Fortiche under the supervision of Riot Games and is set in Riot’s League of Legends universe. It primarily focuses on sisters Vi and Jinx, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld and Ella Purnell. This second season, which will also be the final one, wil follow up to the first one with the sisters that will have to fight each other. Season 2 of Arcane is coming to Netflix this November.
- Sausage Party: Foodtopia: an upcoming adult animated sequel miniseries based on the 2016 adult animated comedy film, Sausage Party. The series is developed by co-writers Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir and features an ensemble cast that includes Seth Rogen (who co-created and produced the film), Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton reprising their roles from the film with Will Forte, Natasha Rothwell, Sam Richardson and Yassir Lester voicing new characters. Sausage Party: Foodtopia is premiering on Amazon Prime Video on July 11.
- Paddington in Peru: the new live-action animated adventure comedy film which is based on the stories of Paddington Bear, created by Michael Bond. It is the third installment in the Paddington film series, and a sequel to Paddington (2014) and Paddington 2 (2017). The film is directed by Dougal Wilson, written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamout, and stars Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington, with Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas and Carla Tous in supporting roles. In this film Paddington and his adopted family – the Browns – decide to visit his aunt Lucy in Peru, but circumstances lead them towards misadventures in the Amazon rainforest and mountains of Peru. The film is releasing in theatres on November 8.
- The Wild Robot: an upcoming animated epic science fiction survival drama adventure film based on the book series of the same name by Peter Brown. The film was written and directed by Chris Sanders, produced by Jeff Hermann, and executive-produced by Sanders’ longtime collaborative partner Dean DeBlois. It stars Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, the title character, alongside an ensemble voice cast including Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamill, and Catherine O’Hara. The film follows the journey of a robot – ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short – that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling. The Wild Robot is releasing in theatres on September 27.
- My Spy The Eternal City: an upcoming spy comedy film directed by Peter Segal. It is the sequel to the 2020 film My Spy with Dave Bautista, Chloe Coleman, Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong reprising their roles from the previous film. We follow JJ who is convinced to accompany Sophie on her school trip to Italy, where they become involved in a terrorist plot. The film is releasing on Amazon Prime Video on July 18.
- We Were Dangerous: a new New Zealand-American drama film, directed by Josephine Stewart-Te Whiu in her directorial debut, from a screenplay by Maddie Dai. It stars Rima Te Wiata, Erana James, Nathalie Morris and Manaia Hall. Taika Waititi and Carthew Neal serve as an executive producer. Set in 1954 New Zealand, it follows Nellie and Daisy who attempt to escape an institution for delinquent girls. However, not only are they caught, it triggers a relocation to a facility on a remote island. The duo become a trio as well-to-do Lou joins them, and life on the island takes shape under the command of devout Matron. The trio rail against the system, dubious of the benevolence of the bible and taking refuge in their blossoming friendship. The film had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 8 and also screened at BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival on March 21. It will be shown in Australia during the Sydney Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival and is releasing in theatres soon.
- The Instigators: an upcoming heist thriller film directed by Doug Liman, written by Chuck Maclean and Casey Affleck, and starring Casey Affleck and Matt Damon, who also produces the film alongside Ben Affleck under their production company Artists Equity. Besides Affleck and Damon, we also have Hong Chau, Paul Walter Hauser, Michael Stuhlbarg, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow and Ron Perlman starring in the film. The Instigators is scheduled to be released in select theaters in the United States on August 2, before premiering on Apple TV+ on August 9.
- Space Cadet: a new comedy film written and directed by Liz W. Garcia. It stars Emma Roberts in the lead role alongside Tom Hopper, Poppy Liu, Dave Foley and Gabrielle Union. It follows Rex, a Florida party girl, who turns out to be the only hope for the NASA space program after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who may have better resumes, but don’t have her smarts, heart and moxie. Space Cadet is releasing on Prime Video on July 4.
