The Boys season 4: the fourth season of the satirical superhero series developed by Eric Kripke and based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their powers. The series features an ensemble cast that includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Nathan Mitchell. We will follow Billy Butcher, and his Boys, as they try to stop Homelander and the other supes. This fourth season takes place after the spin-off series Gen V and premiered on Prime Video on June 13 with the first three episodes and the rest releasing weekly.
Inside Out 2: the new animated coming-of-age film which is the sequel to Inside Out (2015). It’s directed by Kelsey Mann (in his feature directorial debut), produced by Mark Nielsen, and written by Meg LeFauve. The film stars the voices of Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan reprising their roles, with Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Paul Walter Hauser, and Kensington Tallman joining the cast. Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. The film was released in theatres on June 14.
Bridgerton: Season 3 Part 2: the second part of the third season of the historical romance series created by Chris Van Dusen is here. It’s based on the book series by Julia Quinn and revolves around an eponymous fictional family and is set in the competitive world of Regency era London’s ton during the social season in the early 1800s, where young marriageable nobility and gentry are introduced into society. After having Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) in the first season and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) in the second season, in this new season we follow Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) who searches for a husband. We also still follow the Bridgerton family, including Anthony and his wife Kate (Simone Ashley), Colin (Luke Newton), Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Violet (Ruth Gemmell). This third season was split in two parts with the first part that was released on Netflix on May 16 and the second part is now also released on Netflix, on June 13.
Ultraman: Rising: a new animated superhero film based on Tsuburaya Productions’ Ultraman franchise. A Japanese-American co-production between Netflix Animation and Tsuburaya Productions, with animation by Industrial Light & Magic, it is the 44th film in the franchise. It’s directed by Shannon Tindle (in his feature directorial debut), who co-wrote it with Marc Haimes. The film stars Christopher Sean as Ken Sato / Ultraman, alongside the voices of Gedde Watanabe, Tamlyn Tomita, Keone Young, and Julia Harriman. The film follows Ken Sato, a famous but egotistical baseball player living a secret life as the giant superhero Ultraman. He is forced to balance his career and hero duties after reluctantly adopting a baby kaiju after defeating her mother. Ultraman: Rising was released on Netflix on June 14.
Presumed Innocent: a new legal thriller miniseries created by David E. Kelley, based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Scott Turow. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle and Lily Rabe. It tells the story of a prosecutor who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of one of his colleagues. The miniseries premiered on Apple TV+ on June 12.
Treasure: a new tragicomedy film directed by Julia von Heinz and based on the 1999 novel Too Many Men by Lily Brett. The film stars Lena Dunham, Stephen Fry and Zbigniew Zamachowski. Set in 1990, it tells the story of an American journalist Ruth who travels to Poland with her father Edek to visit his childhood places. But Edek, a Holocaust survivor, resists reliving his trauma and sabotages the trip creating unintentionally funny situations. It was selected in the Berlinale Special Gala section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival and was screened on February 17, 2024. The film was released in theatres in the United States on June 14.
