- Nosferatu: a first teaser was released for the upcoming gothic horror film written and directed by Robert Eggers. It is a remake of the 1922 film of the same name, based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. The film stars Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe. Development on the film began in 2015, following the release of The Witch. Eggers planned to make it his second film, describing it as a passion project, but eventually opted to delay production and go on to direct The Lighthouse and The Northman instead. This film is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. Nosferatu is releasing in theatres on December 25.
- Snowpiercer season 4: the fourth and final season of the post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller series, based on both the 2013 film of the same name, directed by Bong Joon-ho, and the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette, from which the film was adapted. The series, a reboot of the film’s continuity, follows the passengers of the Snowpiercer, a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe carrying the remnants of humanity seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. The series questions class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival. Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs star alongside Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Iddo Goldberg, Susan Park, Katie McGuinness, Sam Otto, Sheila Vand, Mike O’Malley, Annalise Basso, Jaylin Fletcher, Lena Hall and Roberto Urbina. Steven Ogg, Rowan Blanchard and Sean Bean joined the main cast in the second season and both Chelsea Harris and Archie Panjabi joined the main cast in the third season. This fourth and final season of the series will not air on TNT but on AMC which had picked up the series. Season 4 of Snowpiercer is premiering on AMC and AMC+ on July 21.
- Heretic: an upcoming horror thriller film written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods and starring Hugh Grant, Chloe East and Sophie Thatcher. When two Mormon missionaries attempt to convert a man, it turns out to be far more dangerous than they could have anticipated. Heretic is releasing in theatres on November 15.
- Red One: an upcoming Christmas action-adventure comedy film directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Chris Morgan, from an original story by Hiram Garcia. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, J. K. Simmons, Nick Kroll and Kristofer Hivju. It follows Callum Drift, the head of North Pole security, who must team up with Jack O’Malley, a bounty hunter, to find and rescue Santa Claus. Red One is releasing in theatres on November 15.
- Find Me Falling: an upcoming romantic comedy film written and directed by Stelana Kliris. It stars Harry Connick Jr. in the lead role as John, alongside Agni Scott, and Ali Fumiko Whitney. It follows rock star John Allman who, after a failed comeback album, escapes to the dreamy Mediterranean island Cyprus, only to discover that his new cliffside home has an unfortunate notoriety that attracts unwanted visitors and an old flame. Find Me Falling is releasing on Netflix on July 19.
- A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder: a new British series based on the Holly Jackson novel of the same name, adapted by Poppy Cogan and directed by Dolly Wells. It stars Emma Myers in the lead role as Pippa (Pip) Fitz-Amobi. She isn’t satisfied that the killing of a local school girl has been investigated enough and takes matters into her own hands, via producing her EPQ on the topic. The first season of the series will consist of six 45-minute episodes covering the events of the first book. If the series is renewed, later seasons plan to cover the other two books. However, executive producer Frith Tiplady also stressed that the first season has a real end. The series is set to release on July 1 on BBC iPlayer in the UK and will be released in Germany, Australia and New Zealand as well, but as for now the dates are unknown. On April 22 Netflix announced that it will release the series as streaming in the US later this year after releasing in the UK.
- Here: an upcoming drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eric Roth, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire. The film stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Paul Bettany, and Kelly Reilly. The story covers the events of a single spot of land and its inhabitants spanning from the past to well into the future. It reunites Hanks and Wright, as well as Zemeckis, Roth, and cinematographer Don Burgess together, for the first time in thirty years after the release of Forrest Gump in 1994. Here is releasing in theatres on November 15.
- The Union: an upcoming spy action comedy-thriller film directed by Julian Farino from a screenplay by Joe Barton and David Guggenheim. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Halle Berry, Mike Colter, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Alice Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, and J. K. Simmons. It follows a construction worker who is roped into the espionage world by his former high school girlfriend. The Union is releasing on Netflix on August 16.
- Hit-Monkey season 2: the second season of the Marvel adult animated series created by Will Speck and Josh Gordon. Its based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, with Gordon and Speck serving as showrunners. The series stars Ally Maki, Olivia Munn, Fred Tatasciore, and Jason Sudeikis, with Nobi Nakanishi and George Takei who were joining for the first season, and Leslie Jones and Cristin Milioti joining for this second season. Hit-Monkey is a wronged Japanese macaque who is mentored by the ghost of an American assassin named Bryce Fowler as he damages Tokyo’s crime underworld. Season 2 of Hit-Monkey is releasing on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally on July 15.
- Flight Risk: an upcoming thriller film directed by Mel Gibson and written by Jared Rosenberg. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace, and Michelle Dockery. In this high-stakes suspense thriller, a pilot transports an Air Marshal accompanying a fugitive to trial. As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem. Flight Risk is releasing in theatres on October 18.
- My Old Ass: a new comedy film written and directed by Megan Park. It stars Maisy Stella, Percy Hynes White, Maddie Ziegler, and Aubrey Plaza. The film follows Elliott Labrant, who has been advised by her future self not to fall in love. She is sure she can follow the advice she has been given. That is, until she meets the boy her older self warned her about. My Old Ass premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and, although there were plans to give the film a wide release in the United States and Canada, it was later announced that it had been scheduled for a limited theatrical release in the United States on September 13. Following the theatrical releases, the film will be made available on Prime Video for streaming worldwide.
