It’s directed by Dallas Jenkins and based on the 1972 children’s novel of the same name by Barbara Robinson. It stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, Molly Belle Wright, and Lauren Graham. The film centers around the Herdmans, a group of juvenile delinquent siblings who have inadvertently found themselves starring in their small town’s Christmas pageant. After being released in theatres in the US, you can find the film on digital and on-demand.
- Hot Frosty: a Christmas romantic comedy film directed by Jerry Ciccoritti and written by Russell Hainline. It stars Lacey Chabert, Dustin Milligan, Katy Mixon Greer, Lauren Holly, Chrishell Stause, Joe Lo Truglio, and Craig Robinson. Chabert plays Kathy, a widow who counters her loneliness with a magical snowman brought to life (portrayed by Milligan). His innocence helps her heal and find love again. They bond before the holidays, but he’s doomed to melt. The film was released on Netflix on November 13 where it was seen by a lot of people and where you can still watch it.
- Our Little Secret: a Christmas romantic comedy film directed by Stephen Herek and starring Lindsay Lohan as part of her creative partnership with Netflix. It was written by Hailey DeDominicis and also stars Kristin Chenoweth, Ian Harding, and Jon Rudnitsky. The film follows Avery (Lohan) who is spending her first Christmas with her boyfriend’s family but discovers her ex is also part of the holiday festivities and decides to hide their romantic history. Lohan described the film as more grounded and relatable compared to her previous Netflix projects, stating: “I love that because my character goes through a very real-life, kind of romantic struggle where she revisits someone from her past that she had a relationship with prior, and it’s kind of a tug-of-war situation where she doesn’t know what to do.” The film was released on Netflix on November 27 where you can still watch it.
- The Merry Gentlemen: a Christmas romantic comedy film directed by Peter Sullivan and written by Marla Sokoloff. It stars Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray in the lead roles alongside Sokoloff, Beth Broderick, Michael Gross and Maxwell Caulfield. The film follows a Broadway dancer who stages an all-male, Christmas-themed revue in hopes of saving her parents’ small-town performing venue. It was released on Netflix on November 20 where you can still watch it.
- Meet Me Next Christmas: a Christmas romantic comedy film directed Rusty Cundieff and written by Molly Haldeman and Camilla Rubis. It stars Christina Milian in the lead role, who is also an executive producer on the film, alognside Devale Ellis, Kofi Siriboe, Tymika Tafari, Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, Matt Sallee, and Kalen Allen. Set in New York City, we follow a woman at Christmas who is desperate to attend a sold out Christmas Eve Pentatonix concert. The members of Pentatonix star in the film as well. The film was released by Netflix on November 6 where you can still watch it.
- That Christmas: a British animated Christmas fantasy comedy film produced by Locksmith Animation and DNEG Animation, and directed by Simon Otto in his directorial debut. Written by Richard Curtis and Peter Souter, it follows entwined storylines based on short stories from That Christmas and Other Stories by Curtis and illustrator Rebecca Cobb. The voice cast features Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker and Bill Nighy. That Christmas premiered at the BFI London Film Festival earlier this year, and was released on Netflix on December 4 where you can still watch it.
