Best Series of 2024

  1. Shogun: This year was the year of Shogun. It dominated the Emmy Awards with 18 wins and even made history by breaking the record for most wins by a series in a single season. It was a beautiful series that is coming back and which I look forw ard to see even more of.
  2. The Penguin: 2024 was the year of the new DC with James Gunn as the new co-CEO. It was also the year of Colin Farrell who reprised his role as Oz in this series based on the DC character The Penguin. Cristin Milioti was also incredible in the series.
  3. Arcane season 2: This year we finally had the second and last season of Arcane, and the wait was worth it. Just like the first season, this second season was just beautiful.
  4. Fallout: after The Last of Us we got this amazing video game adaptation this year. Ella Purnell had her breakout year with her role in this series, which is one of the best video game adaptations and which is coming back.
  5. Agatha All Along: Agatha was back this year in her own series. Kathryn Hahn reprised her role as the witch, who goes on the road. We got to see Joe Locke as the son of Scarlet Witch and Aubrey Plaza was also amazing as Death.
  1. Dune: Prophecy: Besides the second Dune film this year the universe was expanded with this series. It wasn’t as good as the films, but it was nice to see more of the Dune-universe.
  2. X-Men ’97: this year the X-Men were back in this Marvel animated series. After the original animated series of the X-Men ended in 1997, Marvel brought it back this year with several of the original cast members being back. Even more of the X-Men are coming the next few years.
  3. Invincible season 2: the second season of this superhero series was back this year, which was released in two parts. And we don’t have to wait long for the third season that is coming in February 2025.
  4. From season 3: the third season of From was released this year and this is maybe the best one yet. This is one of the best horror series of this year. It’s coming back as well with a fourth season.
  5. The Boys season 4: the fourth season of the superhero series was released this year with Homelander being even more crazy. A fifth and last season is coming.
  1. The Bear season 3: After the two amazing seasons of this drama comedy series, we got a third season which was still very good, but a little less than the previous seasons. Hopefully the fourth season, which is premiering in June 2025, wil be better.
  2. 3 Body Problem: one of the best sci-fi series in my opinion. It was created by the same people as Game of Thrones and was a very mysterious series.
  3. Baby Reindeer: one of the best limited series from this year. It was a viral hit from Netflix that was created by Richard Gadd, who also plays the lead role alongside Jessica Gunning.
  4. Silo season 2: the second season of the dystopian science fiction series. It’s one of the best sci-fi series from this moment with an amazing Rebecca Furguson in the lead role.
  5. Only Murders in the Building season 4: our trio from the Arconia were back with a fourth season in which they were accompanied by big stars like Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy and Zach Galifianakis.
  1. Hazbin Hotel: not only did we had amazing musical films this year, but we also had this great animated musical series which revolves around Charlie Morningstar, princess of Hell.
  2. The Sympathizer: If you’re a fan of Robert Downey Jr. you have to see this series based on the 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen. The actor plays several roles in it.
  3. The Legend of Vox Machina season 3: the third season of this animated series was released this year in which we follow our group of heroes that goes on a big adventure again.
  4. The Regime: Kate Winslet, who stars in the lead role alongside Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts, is amazing in this miniseries as the chancellor of a fictional Central European autocracy.
  5. Echo: 2024 ended with the third and last season of What If…? (that was released too late to make it in this list) and also started with a Marvel series. Echo is a spin-off from Hawkeye following Maya Lopez aka Echo, played by the amazing Alaqua Cox.
  1. Sweetpea: 2024 was the breakthrough year for Ella Purnell because of her role in Fallout, but she also stars in another amazing series that premiered this year. In this black comedy series you see another side of the English actress.
  2. House of the Dragon season 2: The question of this second season of the Game of Thrones-prequel was ‘Which side are you on?’. We got to see even more dragons and had to choose between the Blacks and the Greens.
  3. Sweet Tooth season 3: the third and last season of this fantasy series was released this year. We followed Gus and his friends one last time and we finally saw him reunite with his mom.
  4. Ripley: Andrew Scott not only starred alongside Paul Mescal in All of Us Strangers, but also played the lead role in this psychological thriller series as Tom ripley.
  5. Bridgerton season 3: After having Daphne in the first season and Anthony in the second season, this season we followed Penelope Featherington who searched for a husband.
  1. Mr & Mrs Smith: After the film that was released in 2005, we had the series this year with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in the lead roles as two spies.
  2. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: After the films about Percy Jackson, now we also got a series about the demigod. And the series is much better than the films.
  3. Heartstopper season 3: Charlie and Nick were back in this third season of the series written and created by Alice Oseman and based on her webcomic and graphic novel of the same name.
  4. Dead Boy Detectives: We still have to wait for the new season of The Sandman, but this year we got another series in the same world. The series was good, but too bad that Netflic decided to cancel it after one season.
  5. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew: Star Wars is still alive and that’s because of this series. While The Acolyte divided fans, Skeleton Crew was received much better.
  1. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story: After getting the story of Dahmer in the first season of Monster, Ryan Murphy did a second season following the story of the Menendez brothers.
  2. True Detective: Night Country: Jodie Foster won the first Emmy of her career with her role in this series.
  3. Abbott Elementary season 3: Abbott is still going strong with its third season. And this season we got some fun guest stars.
  4. Nobody Wants This: This was the big comeback of Adam Brody, who is nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role in this romantic comedy series.
  5. The Brothers Sun: This action comedy series that was released at the beginning of the year was a lot of fun and is another series that was canceled too soon by Netflix.
  1. Under The Bridge: Lily Gladstone is not only amazing in films, but also in series like in this miniseries about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year old Reena Virk.
  2. Avatar: The Last Airbender: 2024 was also the year we got a live-action series based on the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was much better that the live-action film that was made years ago.
  3. Griselda: Sofia Vergara showed how talented she is in this crime series based on the life of Griselda Blanco.
  4. A Man on the Inside: After the success of The Good Place, creator Mcihael Schur was back this year with this fun series starring Ted Danson.
  5. Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft: Lara Croft is still very popular after all those years, and this year we got a new animated series following her adventures.
  1. The Perfect Couple: We also got some mystery this year with this series starring the amazing Nicole Kidman.
  2. Batman: Caped Crusader: In the 90s we had Batman: The Animated Series, now we also have this animated series which offers a noir-inspired reimagining of the Batman mythos.
  3. Kaos: This year we got to see Jeff Goldblum as the Greek god Zeus in this mythological dark-comedy series.
  4. One Day: This drama series was one of the most viewed series on Netflix this year. Beware to have tissues by your side when you watch it.
  5. Secret Level: An amazing series for fans of video games. It consists of fifteen stories set in the worlds of different video games.
  1. Snowpiercer season 4: This fourth season of Snowpiercer was the last one. So we followed the passengers of the train one last time.
  2. Disclaimer: Cate Blanchett starred in the lead role in this psychological thriller miniseries from Alfonso Cuarón.
  3. Twilight of Gods: This year was not all good for Zach Snyder, whose two-part project Rebel Moon was not such a success, but he also made this animated series that was better than the films.
  4. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder: In 2022 we got to know Emma Myers that plays in Wednesday. This year she played the lead role in this British series.
  5. Superman and Lois season 4: 2024 was the year we had to say goodbye to the ArrowVerse. This fourth season of the superhero series was the last one of the series and also the very last part of the ArrowVerse.
  1. Renegade Nell: British series were doing well this year, just like this adventure series that was canceled too soon.
  2. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2: This year we went back to the world of The Lord of the Rings with this new season of the series.
  3. The Girls on the Bus: 2024 was the year of elections, with also one happening in the US. So this series came at the right time. Too bad it was canceled after one season.
  4. Based on a True Story season 2: Kaley Cuoco found her way after The Big Bang Theory ended. Besides the amazing series The Flight Attendant, she also stars in the lead role in this dark comedy series.
  5. Lady in the Lake: Another miniseries based on a novel and with an incredible cast like Nathalie Portman and rising star Mikey Madison.
  1. Sugar: Colin Farrell not only starred in The Penguin, but also had the lead role in this series as John Sugar, a private detective in Los Angeles who has to find a missing girl.
  2. Masters of the Air: In 2001 we had Band of Brothers and in 2010 we had The Pacific. This year we got this war series that serves as a companion to these two other series.
  3. Presumed Innocent: Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the lead role in this  legal thriller miniseries that tells the story of a prosecutor who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of one of his colleagues.
  4. We Were the Lucky Ones: War is still a subject that is used a lot to make films and series, and this year we also had some; like this historical series that dramatizes the Holocaust from the perspective of the Kurc family, fictional Polish Jews inspired by real people.
  5. The Tattooist of Auschwitz: And we’re ending this list with another historical series that takes place during the war. This series is inspired by the real-life story of Lale and Gita Sokolov.
