Six To See June 1-7, 2025

  1. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina: the new action thriller film in the world of John Wick. It serves as a spin-off set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023). It is directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten and stars Ana de Armas in the lead role, alongside Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus in supporting roles. Among those reprising their roles from the previous films include Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick (in his final screen appearance), Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves. Ballerina was released in many countries on June 4, followed by the US on June 6. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and I also really like the film. It has a lot of amazing action scenes and is a great movie for the franchise. If you’re a fan of the John Wick films, you will also like this one.
  1. The Life of Chuck: the new science fiction drama film written and directed by Mike Flanagan. It is based on the novella of the same name by Stephen King, which was published in his 2020 compilation book If It Bleeds. The film stars Tom Hiddleston in the lead role as Chuck, with Jacob Tremblay starring as teenage Chuck, and Benjamin Pajak and Cody Flanagan as young Chuck. The cast also consists of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, Annalise Basso, Mia Sara, and Matthew Lillard. Its plot follows Charles “Chuck” Krantz, whose life is chronicled in reverse-chronological order and is seemingly having an impact on the world and universe around him. The Life of Chuck had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year where it won the People’s Choice Award, and was released in theatres in several countries like United States on June 6.
  1. Ginny & Georgia season 3: the third season of the comedy-drama series created by Sarah Lampert. It stars Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry in the lead roles as Georgia and Ginny, alongside Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Katie Douglas, Chelsea Clark, and Nathan Mitchell. They are joined by Ty Doran and Noah Lamanna in season 3. This new season follows up to the previous season, which ended with Georgia being escorted into the back of a police car. We get to know how the scrappy young mom tries to wiggle her way out of this latest jam. Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia was released on Netflix on June 5. A fourth season is coming as well.
  1. Predator: Killer of Killers: the new film in the Predator franchise. This adult animated science fiction action horror anthology film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, co-directed by Joshua Wassung, and written by Micho Robert Rutare.  Trachtenberg, who previously directed Prey (2022), made this secret film in the franchise, which releases prior to Predator: Badlands (2025). It follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history who become prey to the ultimate killer of killers. The film stars Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, Michael Biehn, and Doug Cockle. Predator: Killer of Killers was released in the United States on Hulu and internationally on Disney+ on June 6.
  1. Stick: a new sports comedy series created by Jason Keller. It stars Owen Wilson in the lead role as Pryce Cahill, a former professional golfer who is now a golf club salesman and coach. He is a long-washed-up professional golfer who turns towards a rising young star in the game to turn things around. Also starring in the series are Peter Dager, Lilli Kay, Mariana Treviño, and Marc Maron. The series premiered on Apple TV+ on June 4 with the three first episodes and the rest of the episodes releasing weekly.
  1. Dangerous Animals: a new survival horror film directed by Sean Byrne and written by Nick Lepard. The film stars Hassie Harrison, Josh Heuston, Rob Carlton, Ella Newton, Liam Greinke, and Jai Courtney. It follows Zephyr, a savvy and free-spirited surfer who is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer and held captive on his boat. She must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below. Dangerous Animals is a co-production between the United States and Australia. The film had its premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival last month, and was released in theatres in several countries including the United States and Canada on June 6, and is releasing in even more countries like Australia next week on June 12.
