Six To See January 1-11, 2026

The first Six To See of the new year is here. It consists of releases from the first few days of 2026 and the ones releasing this week. So if you would like to go to the theatre during this first week of 2026 and want to know what to watch at home, these are the six movies and six series you have to see releasing between January 1st and 11th.

Six movies to see:

  1. We Bury the Dead: a new zombie survival thriller film written and directed by Zak Hilditch. It stars Daisy Ridley in the lead role, alongside Mark Coles Smith and Brenton Thwaites. The film centers on a woman desperate to find her missing husband and follows her terrifying yet moving journey as she takes on grief, loss, and the undead. We Bury the Dead had its world premiere in March at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival and was released in theatres in several countries, including the US and Canada, on January 2. It will also be released in even more countries, like Australia and New Zealand, starting February 5.
  1. Greenland 2: Migration: the sequel to Greenland (2020), with Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin reprising their roles from the first film, alongside Roman Griffin Davis (who replaces Roger Dale Floyd), Amber Rose Revah, Gordon Alexander, Peter Polycarpou, William Abadie, and Tommie Earl Jenkins. This post-apocalyptic survival disaster thriller film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune. Greenland 2 is set five years after the Clarke interstellar comet destroyed most of Earth. We follow the Garrity family who must leave the safety of the Greenland bunker and embark on a perilous journey across the wasteland of Europe to find a new home. Greenland 2: Migration will be released in theatres this week in most countries, in the US it’s releasing on January 9, and next week in even more countries.
  1. Primate: a new natural horror film directed by Johannes Roberts, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ernest Riera. It stars Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, and Troy Kotsur, and follows a group of friends who are on a tropical vacation. It turns into a terrifying, primal tale of horror and survival when Ben, a family’s adopted chimpanzee, is bitten by a rabid animal and suddenly becomes violent. Primate premiered at the Fantastic Fest on September 18, 2025, and is scheduled to be released in theaters in several countries this week, including on January 9 in the US. It will also be released in even more countries starting next week.
  1. People We Meet on Vacation: a new romantic comedy film directed by Brett Haley from a screenplay by Yulin Kuang and Amos Vernon & Nunzio Randazzo, based on the 2021 novel of the same name by Emily Henry. It stars Emily Bader, Tom Blyth, Lukas Gage, Jameela Jamil, Alan Ruck, and Molly Shannon. The film follows Poppy, who wants to explore the world, and Alex, who prefers to stay home with a good book. Somehow they are the very best of friends. They live far apart, but for a decade they have spent one week of summer vacation together. People We Meet on Vacation is releasing on Netflix on January 9.
  1. The Dutchman: a new thriller film directed by Andre Gaines, co-writing along with Qasim Basir, based on the 1964 play Dutchman by Amiri Baraka. The film stars André Holland, Kate Mara, Zazie Beetz, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Aldis Hodge, and Lauren E. Banks. It follows a successful black businessman, who is haunted by his crumbling marriage and identity crisis. He is drawn into a sexualized game of cat and mouse with a mysterious white woman on a subway that leads to a violent conclusion. The Dutchman premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival on March 8, and was released in theatres in the US on January 2.
  1. Sleepwalker: a new psychological thriller film written and directed by Brandon Auman. It stars Hayden Panettiere, Beverly D’Angelo, Justin Chatwin, Mischa Barton, Lori Tan Chinn, and Kea Ho. The film follows an accomplished artist and grieving mother who is haunted by the tragic loss of her daughter in a car accident that left her abusive husband in a coma. Plagued by haunting visions, she grapples with the blurred lines between reality and nightmare. Sleepwalker is scheduled to be released in theatres in the US and Canada on January 9.

Six series to see:

  1. His & Hers: a new mystery thriller limited series developed by William Oldroyd. It is an adaptation of the 2020 Alice Feeney novel of the same name. Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal star in the lead roles, alongside Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani and Rebecca Rittenhouse. The miniseries is set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta and follows Anna, a journalist investigating a murder in her hometown and clashing with the suspicious detective Jack Harper. There are two sides to every story: his and hers, which means someone is always lying. His & Hers is releasing on Netflix on January 8.
  1. The Pitt season 2: the second season of the popular medical procedural drama series created by R. Scott Gemmill, and executive produced by John Wells and Noah Wyle. It stars Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez. The series follows emergency department staff as they attempt to overcome the hardships of a single 15-hour work shift at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center all while having to navigate staff shortages and underfunding. Each episode of the season covers approximately one hour of the work shift. The first season, which was released on January 9, 2025, was a big success and has received acclaim from critics. Now we’re a year later and The Pitt is back with its second season, which jumps ahead about 10 months from the end of season 1. The main action takes place on Independence Day (4th of July), which promises fireworks-related injuries, heat emergencies, crowd surge trauma, and holiday mayhem – offering a natural escalation of crises compared to the prior season. Season 2 of The Pitt is premiering on January 8 on HBO Max.
  1. A Thousand Blows season 2: the second season of the British historical drama series created by Steven Knight and based on the Forty Elephants, an all-female crime syndicate who clash with the world of illegal bare-knuckle boxing in 1880s London. It stars Erin Doherty, Malachi Kirby, Stephen Graham, Darci Shaw, James Nelson-Joyce, Hannah Walters, and Nadia Albina. The first season premiered on February 21, 2025 and now the second season is coming. The new season picks up about one year after season 1 and continues to explore the underground bare-knuckle boxing world, the struggles of immigrant characters, and the volatile power plays between competing groups. The second season of A Thousand Blows is releasing on Disney+ on 9 January 2026.
  1. Industry season 4: the fourth season of the financial thriller drama series created by former investment bankers Mickey Down and Konrad Kay. The series follows the personal and professional lives of a group of young graduates who join Pierpoint & Co, a prestigious investment bank in London. Several cast members are reprising their roles from previous seasons, including Myha’la, Marisa Abela, Ken Leung, Kit Harington, Miriam Petche, Andrew Havill, and Sagar Radia. They are joined by several new cast members, including Max Minghella, Toheeb Jimoh, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Charlie Heaton, Claire Forlani, Jack Farthing, Amy James-Kelly, Stephen Campbell Moore, and Edward Holcroft. Season 4 of Industry is premiering on January 11 on HBO Max.
  1. The Night Manager season 2: ten years after the first season was released, The Night Manager is back with a second season. This spy thriller series is based on the 1993 novel by John le Carré and adapted by David Farr. The six-part first season, directed by Susanne Bier and starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, David Harewood and Elizabeth Debicki, was released on February 21, 2016. Now, ten years later, the second season premiered. Hiddleston and Colman are reprising their roles, while Diego Calva and Camila Morrone are joining the cast. Unlike season 1, which closely adapted The Night Manager novel, season 2 is an original story developed after many years. Season 2 of The Night Manager began airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on January 1 in the UK and will be streaming on Prime Video starting January 11 in over 240 countries and territories. The Night Manager has already been renewed for a third season as well.
  1. Run Away: a new British miniseries, adapted from the novel of the same name by Harlan Coben, who is an executive producer on the series. It was developed by Danny Brocklehurst and stars James Nesbitt, Ellie de Lange, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, Amy Gledhill, Lucian Msamati, and Jon Pointing. The miniseries follows a father who searches for his runaway daughter. Run Away was released on Netflix on January 1.
