- A Minecraft Movie: a new fantasy adventure comedy film based on the 2011 video game Minecraft by Mojang Studios. It was directed by Jared Hess and written by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener, Gavin James, and Chris Galletta. The film stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Hansen. In the film, four misfits are pulled through a portal into a cubic world that thrives on imagination, having no choice but to master the world while embarking on a quest with an expert crafter named Steve. A Minecraft Movie was released in theatres on April 4.
- Freaky Tales: a new action comedy film written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The film stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion, Ji-young Yoo, singer Normani in her film debut, and Angus Cloud. This is One of Cloud’s final roles before his passing in July 2023. The film is dedicated to him in his memory. The film depicts four interconnected stories taking place at real locations and during real historical events in 1987 Oakland, California. Freaky Tales premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year and was released in theaters in the US and Canada on April 4.
- Devil May Cry: a new adult animated urban fantasy action series created by Indian-American film producer Adi Shankar and produced by South Korean studio Mir. Based on the Japanese video game franchise of the same name by Capcom, the story follows for-hire demon hunter Dante as he attempts to foil a demonic invasion of Earth headed by a powerful demon known as the White Rabbit while also coming into conflict with a soldier, Mary. The voice cast consists of Johnny Yong Bosch, Scout Taylor-Compton, Hoon Lee, Chris Coppola, Kevin Conroy, and Robbie Daymond. Devil May Cry was released on Netflix on April 3.
- Dying for Sex: a new comedy drama miniseries starring Michelle Williams in the lead role, alongside Jenny Slate, Rob Delaney, David Rasche, Esco Jouléy, Jay Duplass, Kelvin Yu, and Sissy Spacek. The series is created by Elizabeth Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock with Meriwether also serving as a showrunner. It is based on the podcast series of the same name by Nikki Boyer and follows Molly, a woman diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer who ends her 15-year marriage in order to explore herself and her sexuality before her death. Dying for Sex was released on Hulu in the US and internationally on Disney+ on April 4.
- Hell of a Summer: a new comedy horror film written and directed by Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk. This is Bryk’s directorial debut with Wolfhard and Bryk also starring in the film alongside Fred Hechinger, Abby Quinn, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Pardis Saremi, Rosebud Baker, and Adam Pally. Inspiration for the film came from Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead (2004). As the counselors are getting Camp Pineway ready the night before the campers arrive, a masked killer begins killing the staff. Hell of a Summer premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 and was released in theatres in the US on April 4.
- The Bondsman: a new action horror limited series created by Grainger David. It stars Kevin Bacon in the lead role as Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who comes back from the dead and finds his job now has a demonic element after Lucifer reads the receipt wrong. Also starring in the series are Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, Damon Herriman, Maxwell Jenkins, and Jolene Purdy. The Bondsman was released on Prime Video on April 3.
Bonus film:
- A Nice Indian Boy: a new romantic comedy film directed by Roshan Sethi and written by Eric Randall and Madhuri Shekar. It stars Karan Soni, Jonathan Groff, Sunita Mani, Zarna Garg, and Harish Patel. The film follows Naveen who brings his fiancé Jay home to meet his traditional Indian family. They must contend with accepting his white-orphan-artist boyfriend and helping them plan the Indian wedding of their dreams. A Nice Indian Boy premiered at SXSW last year and already received positive reviews from critics. It has a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film was released in theatres in the US on April 4.

- Pulse: a new medical drama series created by Zoe Robyn who also serves as a showrunner together with Carlton Cuse. It stars Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, Jessie T. Usher, Justina Machado, Jack Bannon, Daniela Nieves, Chelsea Muirhead, and Jessy Yates. The series follows the personal and professional lives of doctors and staff at a busy Miami trauma center. Pulse was released on Netflix on April 3.
